If you would like to undertake a global education opportunity such as internships, short courses, summer courses, events or conferences organized through the Global Education Office, we recommend you follow the steps below:
- Consider your motivation for going on a global education experience. Do you wish to gain an international experience, academic credit or to go to a specific Country, region or institution?
- Research the numerous Global Education Programs available to UNSW students. This information is available by talking to an Exchange Advisor, visiting the UNSW Global Education Blog, our exchange partners’ websites or consulting your faculty.
- Select a Program that best aligns with your motivation and semester breaks.
- If applicable, you MUST speak to your UNSW Faculty about your proposed study plan and negotiate any transfer of credit issues with the Faculty before submitting an application to the Global Education Office
- Lodge your application at least 1 month in advance of the specific program application deadlines. Applications should include:
o Completed Global Education Programs Outgoing Application Form
o Two passport-sized photos
o Academic statement
o Resume
o Copy of front ID page of passport - The host institution should be contacted for their application requirements and submission procedure. The final decision on your acceptance is at the discretion of the host institution.
- The host institution will then send you notification of your application, and if accepted, information on your enrolment.
- Once you have been informed of your nomination, you will be required to register your travel with UNSW online.
NOTE:
- If you are nominated to participate in a global education program you are expected to submit a “Return Student Questionnaire” on your experiences at the completion of the program.
- Applications received for competitive programs will be selected by a UNSW Committee according to the criteria of that particular program.
- International students may undertake these programs in any country except their home country.
You may also be able to gain recognition for your program on your Australian Higher Education Graduate Statement and gain recognition as a “global citizen.”
Insurance
Students who participate in these experiences may be covered by the UNSW Travel Insurance Policy if travelling for UNSW purposes. If you are going on one of these programs you should register your travel with UNSW.
It is important that you check your insurance before you leave Australia. If you are not covered by UNSW insurance we strongly recommend you arrange your own travel coverage through a private insurance provider.
