No matter who you are or what you study, you can empower yourself with a range of services that support your development at UNSW. Our support services help you take on any unavoidable personal challenges with study, finances, employment, and life in general. 

Equitable learning services

This free and confidential service addresses challenges faced by people who live with physical and mental health conditions or disabilities. You’ll find practical solutions that ensure your studies are not adversely affected.

Peer support

Enjoy settling into university with a connection to a current student who can guide you from your shared perspective. You’ll find mentors who are mature-aged, international, queer, athletic, living with a disability, or tech-focused.

Support for international students

Make the most out of your time in Australia. Find people and resources to guide your transition to this new country, including support with accommodation, lifestyle and recreation, finances and scholarships, career, and academic studies.

Meet your support team

Discuss your situation with a student support adviser in person, in a virtual face-to-face appointment, over the phone or via email. Book single or ongoing appointments - whatever suits you! 

Additional support services

  • Stay motivated and address issues such as learning difficulties, poor grades, and lack of support. Find out how to get special consideration, discover academic workshops to achieve better outcomes, identify your unique academic needs and learn strategies to manage them.

  • Technology can be confusing but we’re here to assist with understanding UNSW technology systems and programs, including Moodle, Turnitin, lecture recordings, Bluepulse, email and any other digital technologies you’ll need to use as a student.

  • Build an advantage through networks and career skills that complement your studies. Find support services that can develop your life path and career objectives, along with the employability skills, strategies, and support groups to achieve your goals.

  • Limited funds now shouldn’t get in the way of your future. Find out about Commonwealth assistance, Centrelink payments, fee payment plans, scholarships, financial management and support including help with Covid-19 and student loans.

Health and wellbeing

  • The importance of mental health cannot be understated. Reach out for our 24/7 confidential telephone helpline, emergency contacts, online forums, psychology and wellness counselling, and mental health services on and off campus.

  • Find support and understanding from the people who make up our diverse community. When discovering your true identity, you'll find a range of resources and proud allies from our welcoming university.

  • You can make face-to-face or telehealth appointments with UNSW Health Service, where non-judgemental doctors, nurses and administrative staff ready to help with any concerns you have about your health and wellbeing.
