Want to study an undergraduate degree? Foundation Studies will get you there.
International students who do not satisfy the entry requirements for an undergraduate degree can undertake a Foundation Studies Program. Upon successful completion, you will be guaranteed a place in your chosen undergraduate degree at UNSW.
Foundation Studies programs
Our programs are specifically designed for international students, who have completed Year 11 with good general results but need extra support in building English and critical thinking skills for University. Once you successfully complete this pathway program, you will also be eligible to apply for undergraduate degrees at other universities.
Our programs are recognised by all Australian and New Zealand universities, and by select universities around the world. There are four streams offered, depending on what degree you would like to study at UNSW.

Arts and Social Sciences is your stream for a degree in: Arts, Criminology, Economics, Education, International Studies, Media and Social Science.
Commerce or Actuarial Studies is your stream for a degree in: Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Economics, Finance, International Business, Some Law degrees or Marketing.
Design is your stream for a degree in: Architectural Studies, Arts, Construction Management and Property, Design, Fine Arts, Industrial Design, Interior or Landscape Architecture or Media.
Physical or Life Science is your stream for a degree in: Biomedical Sciences, Engineering, Medical Science, Medicine, Psychology, Science or Technology.

Standard program:
9 monthsRecommended for students who have good high school year 11 or 12 grades, a strong English proficiency (IELTS 6.0 with a 5.0 in all bands, or equivalent) and would like a faster pace of study.

Standard Plus program:
12 monthsRecommended for students who would like a slower pace of study and have intermediate English language proficiency (IELTS 5.5, with a minimum 5.0 in all bands, or equivalent).

Extended Program:
15 monthsRecommended for students who would like a slower pace of study and have lower English language proficiency as Standard Plus students (IELTS 5.0, with a minimum of 4.5 in all bands, or equivalent).

Foundation English Entry course (FEEC)
10 weeksFor those who meet the academic requirements for a Foundation Studies Program but whose English language proficiency is moderate (IELTS 5.0 or equivalent). You can complete this program before starting a UNSW Foundation Studies Program. For more information, please visit the UNSW Global website.
Scholarships of up to A$7,500 are available for high achieving students entering UNSW Foundation Studies Programs.
