When I first decided to spend a year abroad I was pretty freaked out. I just didn’t know how I would feel on the other side of the world, away from my friends and family… in a new city in a completely different hemisphere! However, after just the first week I knew that I was going to have the time of my life. Sydney truly deserves its reputation as being one of the most fantastic and vibrant cities in the world. Everyone is so friendly and in addition to the glorious weather there’s just so many things to do. If you’re not off jet-boating or trekking out in the Blue Mountain’s, you’ll be sun-bathing on Coogee beach in between classes!
Aside from the city, UNSW itself is brilliant too. The university is on a lovely green campus in the middle of the suburbs, easily commutable into the CBD. As a Law student and I’ve had the privilege of studying in the high-tech, state of the art new law building. UNSW has an international reputation for excellence and teaching is generally done in small groups so you get to be friends with everyone and can easily interact with the lecturer.
Overall, I’ve had an amazing time so far. I’ve met so many new people, done so many new things and made lasting global friendships. Studying abroad can be a gamble, but having had the most fun ever at UNSW its definitely paid off!
