Stephen Bennett has always been drawn to “ideas that change the world”, so chose dual specializations in Business Strategy and Organization and Management Studies for his Master of Commerce degree.

After completing an undergraduate degree in Law and getting some experience in the workforce in his hometown of Manchester, Stephen’s interest in innovation and entrepreneurship steered him towards Commerce. With ambitions to work in start-up companies, IPOs or to create new business ventures himself, the 24-year-old Brit believes a global education is invaluable.

“If you choose to study abroad it shows employers that you are curious and willing to take risks. It sets you apart,” he says.

A previous holiday to Australia had left Stephen keen to return. When weighing up his options for overseas study he also considered the international reputation of UNSW’s Australian School of Business (ASB), and the “real world” experience of its lecturers who are specialists in their fields.

“Instead of using textbook solutions we analyse real-life business scenarios. We are taught to think independently and critique everything – and we get really good feedback which encourages new ideas,” he says.
