Practicum Exchange ProgramThe Practicum Exchange Program is designed for students from overseas institutions who wish to come to UNSW to obtain research experience or professional/industrial practice. Please note that this Program is only available to students enrolled at UNSW partner universities.
This program is for a limited period (usually between two and six months) and may be a formal requirement for the award of a degree at the student's home institution.
To meet the needs of these students and UNSW staff, the University has adopted guidelines for non-award Practicum Students. These guidelines are designed to ensure that:
N.B.Practicum Students are NOT eligible for transport concession
All participants are charged a compulsory AUD $330 fee which is a fixed fee regardless of the period of enrolment, to cover the fixed costs of processing the applications and administrative support for students.
The Student activities fees are voluntary. Students who wish to subscribe to student organisations should contact the ARC directly for further information.
These charges include, where applicable, the Goods and Services Tax (GST) imposed by the Australian Government.
The easiest way to find a supervisor is to approach the faculty in which you would like to undertake your practicum program. Contact details can be found in the UNSW staff directory or alternatively you can search through the faculty web pages:
To discover what research projects are currently being undertaken in each faculty, please look at Postgraduate Research @ UNSW.
Students will be enrolled in COURSE 6007 PRACTICUM EXCHANGE PROGRAM, which is a non-award research program.
The School or Department is responsible for assessing the student's academic background and English language proficiency against UNSW admission and English language requirements and for ensuring the student is able to participate meaningfully in the proposed research practicum.
Some students may be required to show evidence of their English language ability as part of their visa process. Students should refer to the Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship for all visa information. Students from assessment level 3 and 4 countries need to be aware that they may be required to provide an IELTS test and this may lengthen the visa process.
