Global UNSW Students

Students who participate in the practicum exchange program will be covered by the UNSW Travel Insurance Policy. If you are going on one of these programs you need to register your travel with the university.

It is important that you check your insurance before you leave Australia. We strongly recommend you arrange additional travel coverage through a private insurance provider if this does not cover all your needs.

Checklist

Here is a checklist to consider before you go on overseas.

  • Valid passport for the entire length of your stay overseas plus an extra six months.
  • Apply for the appropriate Visa using the acceptance material from the partner university
  • Check you are appropriately covered by insurance
  • Undergo a Health check. Ask your GP about any vaccinations you may need.
  • Register your travel with UNSW
  • Register with DFAT on arrival at your destination
  • Maintain a watch on the Department of Foreign Affairs web site www.dfat.gov.au and www.smartraveller.gov.au regarding international developments and travel warnings.

Safety and Security

We strongly urge you to maintain a watch on the Department of Foreign Affairs and www.smartraveller.gov.au regarding international developments and travel warnings when planning your overseas experience.

In extreme cases the UNSW Global Education Office may require students to evacuate from a location which is deemed insecure or unsafe. In such cases you must make plans to leave as soon as you are contacted. This includes packing up your belongings.
