Study Abroad Housing

On-campus and off-campus housing organised through the Study Abroad office is available for Study Abroad students, provided housing applications are submitted before the closing date. Application forms are included in the pre-departure package sent to students who accept their offer.

Off-campus housing organised by Study Abroad
Study Abroad’s off-campus housing comprises self-catered furnished shared and single room housing in properties ranging from dormitory-style blocks, large houses and apartments, to smaller apartments in the suburbs of Coogee Beach and Randwick. Randwick is within walking distance of UNSW’s Kensington campus, while Coogee Beach is about a half-hour walk or 5-minute bus ride to the campus.

You will be able to list preferences for the suburb you would like to live in, whether you would like a private apartment or dorm room, and general preferences about the mix of people you would like to live with. Please note that while single rooms can be requested, they cannot be guaranteed.

On-campus housing organised by Study Abroad
Study Abroad organises on-campus housing in self-catered apartment-style accommodation. These apartments are in the brand-new University Terraces located on lower campus. The options organised through Study Abroad in University Terraces include single studio rooms, single rooms in two-bedroom apartments, and shared rooms in large studios. There may also be other options if you apply directly.

Other on-campus housing available to Study Abroad students
Study Abroad students can apply for the following fully-catered on-campus housing options: International House, Kensington Colleges, New College and Shalom College. Students interested in these options will need to contact the Colleges directly and complete a separate application form and procedure. Each college has its own application process and criteria for accepting students. If you are interested in applying for one of these options, it is advisable to submit an application as soon as possible.

Study Abroad housing fees 2013

The fees for housing organised through Study Abroad covers gas and electricity, and furnishings. As the fee is packaged to include utilities and furnishings, students will not need to organise their furniture, gas and electricity connections or manage bills. Students will need to supply their own linen and towels.
