Guaranteed Housing
Off-campus housing organised through the Study Abroad office is guaranteed for Study Abroad students, provided housing applications are submitted before the closing date. Study Abroad off-campus housing is also open to Exchange students in limited numbers, provided applications are submitted prior to the closing date. Application forms can be obtained through the Exchange Office and should be submitted directly to Study Abroad.
Study Abroad’s off-campus housing comprises furnished shared and single room housing in properties ranging from dormitory-style blocks, large houses and apartments, to smaller apartments in the suburbs of Coogee, Randwick and Bondi. These suburbs surround UNSW’s Kensington campus.
Randwick is the closest suburb to UNSW but is not located by the beach. Coogee and Bondi are beachside suburbs and have frequent public transport to take you to UNSW. Coogee is approximately a 30 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride and Bondi is approximately 45 minutes by public transport.
Application forms are included in the Pre-departure package sent to students who accept their offer. You will be able to list preferences for the suburb you would like to live in, whether you would like a private apartment or dorm room, and general preferences about the mix of people you would like to live with. Please note that while single rooms can be requested, they cannot be guaranteed.
Off-campus housing prices per semester 2012*
The UNSW Study Abroad Housing fee (see below) covers gas and electricity, and furnishing. As the fee is packaged to include utilities and furnishings, students will not need to organise their furniture, gas and electricity connections or manage bills. Students will need to supply their own linen and towels.
