COMMUNICATIONS

Telephone and Mobile phones

Public phones are commonplace and local calls are fixed at 40cents. Most public phones accept coins and pre-paid phonecards and some have credit-card payment option. Pre-paid international calling cards tend to offer better rates than other deals. The major telecommunications carriers are Optus, AAPT, Vodafone, Telstra and 3 or Orange. It is useful to compare the various services on offer and find out which provides the best services for your local, STD, international, mobile phones and internet services. You can choose to have one provider for all your telecommunication needs or multiple providers for different services.

ISS uses both e-mail and its homepage to inform students on activities, important updates on health, visa, jobs advertisements and other information relevant to the international students' community. Please ensure that you subscribe to the ISS- is-forum mailing list.

Further details regarding mobile phones is available here

Postal service

Australia Post - www.austpost.com.au offices are generally open from 9am until 5pm Monday to Friday and offer the full range of general mail services. There is a post office located at Kensington upper campus, next to the Library.
