Postgraduate Research Degree Entry Requirements

UNSW offers two main research degrees:

Before applying for a research degree you will need to match your area of interest to one of our Faculties or Schools.  When you have located the best area for undertaking your research you should contact the Faculty/School you are interested in before making an application for admission.

In considering applications for research programs Faculties will also consider:

Your research proposal
A research application must include a research proposal of approximately 100 words. This proposal is only an indication of your interests and will be further developed during your period of study.

You can download the appropriate application form from UNSW's main website. In addition, once you have applied you can track your application on-line.

Whether a suitable supervisor is available
To improve your chances of a successful application it is highly recommended that you search out and establish contact with a possible supervisor before you submit your application. This latter requirement is mandatory for research applications in the Faculty of Medicine. Once you have made contact with the appropriate School and supervisor, advice and information on how to apply (with instructions for local and international students) and scholarships opportunities are available from UNSW's main website.
