ALTERNATIVE UNIVERSITY PATHWAYS

Aside from approved High School qualifications UNSW will also consider a range of other academic qualifications for entry to its undergraduate programs - these are referred to as University Pathways.

Foundation Year
Students who do not meet the minimum academic requirements for entry to UNSW undergraduate degrees may qualify for the UNSW Foundation Year Program. The Foundation Year is offered at the main University campus and is of 10 to 12 months duration. Students completing their Foundation Year with the required grade point average for the undergraduate program they wish to enter will qualify for a place in that program.

TAFE, College & Polytechnic Diplomas
Applicants who have graduated with diplomas from recognised TAFE, Technical, Polytechnic and other Colleges will be considered for entry. Entry will be based on academic achievement during their diploma studies. In most cases, other than when applying for advanced standing, the specialisation of the diploma will not be considered in the assessment process. Recognised Australian diplomas and Private Colleges are VETAB (Vocational Education & Training Accreditation Board) and or AQF (Australian Qualifications accredited. If you intended to use a diploma as a pathway to UNSW please confirm accreditation with College before committing to a study program or contact the UNSW Admissions Office.

University Transfers
UNSW will also consider applications from students who have completed at least one year of a Bachelor degree at a recognised university. Entry will be based on academic results achieved during these studies. In most cases, other than when applying for advanced standing, the specialisation of the degree will not be considered in the assessment process. Some Faculties will also consider final year high school qualifications of applicants applying with results from one year of university study. Contact the UNSW Admissions Office if you wish to confirm whether your University is recognised.

Advanced Standing
In some cases successful applicants who have completed recognised post secondary studies may be eligible for Advanced Standing. This is credit granted towards their UNSW degree for previous diploma studies where these studies relate to the UNSW degree. Applicants need to indicate when applying they wish to be considered for advanced standing and will need to submit the syllabus for their diploma and information about each of the courses/subjects completed.
