Employment Part-time and vacation work Under the current immigration regulations, international students are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week during session and full-time during vacation. Dependents of undergraduate students are limited to 20 hours work per week while those of postgraduates are permitted to work full time.
All Student Visas issued will have visa condition 8101, which means that the holder must not engage in work in Australia. Students can apply for the right to work by lodging an application form at ISS after they have commenced their studies.
You may be able to earn some money from part-time or casual work. It is not possible for any student to make enough money through part-time work to pay for tuition fees or living expenses. Rates of pay for casual work for students range from $12 to $19 per hour. In particular, it is worth noting that it is very difficult to find part-time work in Sydney.
To find out about how to find casual and part-time jobs, check Careers and Employment website.
